Description of IMRIO02
The S900 remote I/O system communicates with 800xA or other controllers over PROFIBUS. Suitable for applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas industries, S900 I/O can be installed in hazardous areas, thereby reducing marshalling and wiring costs. Further maintenance savings can be achieved through S900’s extended diagnostics and the use of HART®-compliant field devices. Three series of S900 I/O are available: − S-series for applications in Zone 1 hazardous areas − B-series for applications in Zone 2 hazardous areas − N-series for applications in non hazardous areas Additional solutions for specific applications are available: − Field housing - for wall mounting and field mounting in Zone 1 installations with system approval fully certified in accordance with ATEX. The high-grade steel housing is prepared for wall-mounting with facility for insulated screen rails or terminals. − CB220 compact box - S900 in compact form (with up to 4 I/O modules). This variant is suitable for use in applications such as temperature multiplexers and solenoid valve circuit

MODULE DESCRIPTION of IMRIO02
The RIO occupies one slot in the Module Mounting Unit (MMU). Dipswitches on the RIO configure user options and module addresses. LEDs on the front panel provide operating status. Two captive screws on the module faceplate secure it to the MMU. The user connects the communication cabling to the termination unit/module which is connected to the RIO.
FEATURES of IMRIO02
The Remote Input/Output Module (RIO02) provides communication between the Multi-Function Processor and remote slave modules at a rate of one Megabit per second. A RIO on each end of the link supports communication up to 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) to the farthest remote drop. The remote link can be coaxial, twinaxial or fiber optic cable. The RIO also has internal diagnostics which ensure module and communication link integrity. The RIO hardware provides the capability to add redundant modules and communication hardware.
